Weaving Studio (1st Floor)
See our collection of hand-looms varying in size, form and ethnicity. From simple rigid heddle table looms to 6-heddle floor looms. Some old, some new. All intact and operating.
Workshops participants have full access to weaving equipment and materials.
Residents with prior knowledge are welcome to use these facilities, or to propose a workshop during their stay at Jinze Mansion.
|
Exhibition Gallery (1st Floor)
Themed exhibitions and special textile events are held at the Exhibition Gallery. It is a space for open forum and dialogue with the art and craft community.
|
Reference Library (2st Floor)
The Centre's reference library contains hundreds of books and journals devoted to the historical, technical, and cultural study of textiles, in particular on China. Computers provide access to the collection database, which offers images and descriptive information about the Centre’s collection items, maximizing the information available to scholars and the public while minimizing the textiles' exposure to light, dust, and handling.
The library is open to members with an appointment.
