Intensive Weaving Workshop: From ABC

Since 2013, Jinze Arts Centre has organized 10 Intensive Weaving Workshops, our unique way of teaching has been proven effective. We begin with the ABCs of weaving, starting from the primitive backstrap loom, moving into the different developments of the loom and its potentials. We had academics, designers and artists, anthropoligists, art therapists, who came with different intentions, then put their acquired weaving knowledge into different uses.

In this 5 day workshop, you will learn through hands on experiences, demonstrations, archive studies, library studies, after dinner self practices, interaction within the group, all to lead you into the wonderful world of woven textiles.

Our weaving studio is facilitated with a variety of looms - from different ethnic areas of China, then modern looms from Europe, the U.S and Japan. You will have hands on experience of the loom, handle the warping process and weave your own creative fabric. You might also try on the traditional looms if you feel confident enough. There will also be 'Collection Study' sessions where you will gain more weaving knowledge from our unique textile collections.
